Do Recliners Come Apart for Moving?

Do Recliners Come Apart for Moving

Are you trying to figure out if your La-Z-Boy Recliner is able to come apart for moving?

At La-Z-Boy Home Furnishings & Décor, this is a common question we receive on a regular basis.

In this article, we’ll show you how to take apart your recliner and make it easier to move.

Remove Your Recliner’s Backrest

Removing the backrest on your La-Z-Boy Recliner will make the process of moving much simpler.

You’ll be able to carry the back and seat in two trips. Plus, the back can lay on top of the seat for compact storage.

Here’s how you can remove your La-Z-Boy Recliner back in five easy steps:

  1. Roll your recliner forward.
  2. Locate locking brackets on each side of back.
  3. Pull locking levers up with slotted screwdriver.
  4. Roll recliner back to normal position.
  5. Rock backrest side-to-side in upward motion.

While the back of your recliner is off, tighten the screws on both brackets to make it more secure.

You can also tighten the exposed screws on the brackets of the body. These are the brackets that keep the back in place.

Tightening these screws will keep the back of your recliner from wobbling or tilting.

Install Your Recliner’s Backrest

After your recliner has been moved to its new home, you’re ready to reinstall the backrest.

You’ll follow the same steps as before except this time in the opposite order.

  1. Align brackets with the back at a slight angle.
  2. Roll your recliner forward.
  3. Push locking levers down with slotted screwdriver.
  4. Roll recliner back to normal position.
  5. Test installation by gently twisting from side-to-side.

Now, your La-Z-Boy Recliner is ready for you to kick back your feet and relax.
